Michael Jackson Accused
Michael Jackson fan Krissie Petrovay discusses the rally for the pop star on the eve of his arraignment
Jan. 15, 2004

Court TV Host: Michael Jackson fan Krissie Petrovay, one of the participants in tomorrow's "Caravan of Love," was just on Catherine Crier Live, and she's going to be our guest here. Welcome, Ms. Petrovay.

Krissie Petrovay: Hi, to everyone who's out there.

Question from PrincessNess: Krissie I just wanted to say thanks from a fellow fan!

Krissie Petrovay: Cool. That's awesome. Thank you.

Question from eowyn: Krissie, good evening, I guess I want to know how you are involved with Mr. Jackson? Are you a spokesperson or a fan club member?

Krissie Petrovay: I'm not a spokesperson. I'm not a fan club member. My family and I wanted to do something after the Bashir interview. We're just loyal fans who wanted to launch our own campaign of sorts with the message "Leave Him Alone." That's the name of the site leavehimalone.com. The leave him alone message was meant for those in the media who excessively paint a picture of Michael Jackson as a freak or a wacko. Instead of as the amazing human being that he is. And for years, he's been treated like a circus act, and we feel that it's appalling that the focus won't be on his achievements and contributions until after he's gone.

Question from CCRCarol: I think he portrays himself as a freak, doesn't he?

Krissie Petrovay: I think that he lives his life the way he wants. And that should be his right. Just because he has given us the gift of his music and talent doesn't then give us the right to rob him of his privacy and right to live.

Question from Momma: Does he want to be left alone?

Krissie Petrovay: I think it's evident that he wants to be left alone. When it comes to his personal life, it seems to me, having the media constantly, prior to this current case, run stories of how many plastic surgeries he's had is not newsworthy. Why aren't they doing news stories on third-world countries whose lives are being transformed due to his generosity?

Question from Momma: What about dangling his baby over the rail? Should he be left alone in that case?

Krissie Petrovay: I think "dangling" is a very liberal word to describe the scenario. He himself said that was poor judgment. And how many parents make poor judgment and bad choices everyday that they learn from but those incidents are not broadcast on worldwide media for all to scrutinize.

Question from Laura-CTV: Why doesn't he 'get it'? Despite people saying it's wrong to sleep with, or in the same room as young children, he insists it's an act of 'love', and it sets him up for accusations. Why can't he just see the common sense that we all see?

Krissie Petrovay: I can't speak for Michael Jackson. And I've already stated my personal opinion.

Question from PrincessNess: Will you be at the arraignment tomorrow?

Krissie Petrovay: Absolutely. It's a chance for people like me who want Michael to know that we're behind him -- to be able to get that message to him by banding together.

Question from JudgeGuilty: Hi, Krissie, how many fans are expected to be there?

Krissie Petrovay: It's impossible to project, but we're hoping to reach close to a thousand.

Question from Gloria_FAN_fromTENNESSEE: What do you think of Gloria Allred trying to get Michael Jackson's kids out of his custody?

Krissie Petrovay: I think it's appalling. There's absolutely no evidence that's been brought forth that would support an action of that nature.

Question from OldHippy: Krissie, what do they hope to accomplish with the caravan tomorrow?

Krissie Petrovay: A person can't approach Michael Jackson and say, "I believe in you, I support you" individually. But with so many showing up out ther,e he will see it and feel the love and support, and that's the point. We want to say to him, "You are not alone."

Question from Gloria_FAN_fromTENNESSEE: What makes you a fan of Michael Jackson?

Krissie Petrovay: It's a life long thing of his music and his incomparable talent and his human spirit.

Question from Rahhh: Is your position that Michael is innocent based on the fact that you are fan or because the charges and allegations just don't make sense?

Krissie Petrovay: I would say both. The fact that I'm a fan is probably where the enormity of my faith stems from. You have faith in something which is a belief without seeing. One person might think that he's guilty without being in a room and witnessing it. I've never been in a room witnessing it, and I believe he's innocent. In addition to that the evidence doesn't hold water in my view. And it's a matter of exploitation and greediness.

Question from Momma: Why do you think Michael Jackson underwent such an extreme transformation to his appearance?

Krissie Petrovay: All I can go by is information gathered from the interviews he did back in February. I imagine they stem from the way he was made fun of and treated as a young person in the public eye. And therefore caused low self-esteem as it relates to his physical appearance.

Question from eowyn: Krissie, He's in the public eye, why should he be given special treatment, different from any other celebrity?

Krissie Petrovay: Yes, why should he? It seems to me that other celebrities do not suffer the onslaught of attack that he does.

Question from CCRCarol: What if he is proven guilty? How would you feel about asking the world to leave him alone?

Krissie Petrovay: Again, the "leave him alone" message was intended for the media long before this case surfaced. And I stand behind that. If he was proven guilty I would be devastated, but it doesn't even enter my mind as a possibility.

Question from KATETHESNAKE: Krissie, what do you think of Michael Jackson's accuser's mother?

Krissie Petrovay: I don't know her. I don't mean that harshly, but I can't say what I think of her.

Question from Gloria_FAN_fromTENNESSEE: Do you think the prosecutors set up the charges for when M.J. album's came out?

Krissie Petrovay: I can't deny the irony in it, but wouldn't be able to say for sure.

Question from aj1978: Krissie, have you read the sworn declaration from the child involved in the '93 case?

Krissie Petrovay: Yes, I read it a long time ago and don't believe it. I'm not trying to become a controversial figure by any means. I think it's only fair that there should be at least one regular citizen getting their voice heard who is in support of Michael Jackson juxtaposed against the great number of people who are persecuting him and not standing by the American principle of being innocent until proven guilty. In this case people want to say that Michael Jackson is guilty and make him prove his innocence rather than the other way around.

Question from adenj4evr: Krissie, in what way did Michael Jackson influence your life to cause you to be so supportive of him?

Krissie Petrovay: It's not just my life but the life of my entire family. We stand in awe of his remarkable talent, and his music has meant so much to us over the years. And he is indisputably the number one pop culture icon of all time.

Court TV Host: Any closing thoughts?

Krissie Petrovay: I feel really privileged to be able to show support for Michael Jackson in this kind of forum. It's frustrating to watch someone that you have an affinity for being misunderstood and treated unjustly, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to voice my frustrations and know that I am not alone.
